Breville coffee machine parts, sorted by fitment before you pay
Portafilters, water filters, knock boxes and cleaning gear for Breville espresso machines
TL;DR: Breville coffee machine parts are accessories and wear items for Breville espresso machines like the BES878 Barista Pro and BES920 Dual Boiler: portafilters, water filters and descalers.
Looking for Breville coffee machine parts in Australia? This page gathers the Breville accessories and spares we hold: 54mm and 58mm portafilter handles, knock boxes, milk jugs, the Claro Swiss water filter and cleaning kits. We've been fitting parts to espresso machines since 1999, so we know which items actually get asked for when a Breville Barista Express or a Breville Dual Boiler needs attention. Start with your model code, then work down the list below.
Portafilter size comes first
Breville sells a lot of machines in Australia, which means a lot of people eventually need a part. The first thing to settle is group size. Our Breville 58mm bottomless portafilter is listed as compatible with the Oracle Touch (BES990), the Oracle (BES980) and the Dual Boiler (BES920). Other machines in the range run a 54mm group, which is why Pesado builds its modular double portafilter for Breville in both sizes, in black/black and black/silver. Measure the basket before you order rather than guessing from the model name.
Water filtration is the second check
The Breville Claro Swiss Water Filter suits the Oracle Touch (BES990, batch 1747 and up), the Oracle (BES980, batch 1751 and up), the Breville Barista Pro (BES878), the Barista Touch (BES880), the Dual Boiler (BES920, batch 1801 and up) and the Dynamic Duo (BEP920, batch 1801 and up). Batch codes matter: two machines carrying the same model number can take different cartridges, so check your existing filter first.
What this page is, and is not
We hold Breville accessories, consumables and wear items. Internal components such as pumps, solenoids and boiler elements for a Breville espresso machine go through Breville's own Australian service network. Our spare parts range covers prosumer and commercial brands instead, and that is where the diagnostic depth lives.
Most people landing here want one of four things. Work out which one you are.
Replacing a portafilter
The most common Breville upgrade. The Pesado Modular Double Portafilter is stainless steel through the body and spout, with a spout that detaches for cleaning and a machined inner surface that shapes the pour. It comes in 54mm and 58mm to match the two Breville group sizes, and the 54mm black/silver and 58mm black/black versions are on the shelf now. If you would rather see your extraction than guess at it, a bottomless portafilter shows channelling the moment it happens, which is the quickest way to work out whether the fault is dose, distribution or grind. Both styles live in our bottomless portafilters and double portafilters ranges.
Sorting out water
Scale is what quietly kills home espresso machines. The Claro Swiss cartridge fits a defined list of Breville models and batch ranges, so check the code before ordering. If your machine is not on that list, or you are on hard regional water, an inline cartridge from our water filters range is the more thorough answer.
Cleaning and descaling
Two separate jobs. Descaler removes hard water scale from the water path; Breville's descaler is a non-corrosive, phosphate-free, biodegradable formulation made for espresso machines, brewers and kettles. Cleaning tablets deal with coffee residue and oil build-up in the group and the steam wand. The Breville Espresso Cleaning Kit bundles descaler, milk frother cleaner, residue tablets, cloths and a stainless polish in one box. An honest steer: Breville's cleaning products are re-branded Cafetto, so the same chemistry in Cafetto packaging is often the better value buy. The wider cleaning chemicals range covers both jobs across every brand we carry.
Tidying the bench
The Knock Box 10 stores up to ten pucks on an anti-slip base. The Knock Box 20 uses a cushioned removable bar and suits a busier bench. The Knock Box Mini measures 10.16 x 10.16 x 11.43cm for tight spaces. On milk, the Breville Milk Jug Thermal 480ml carries an integrated thermometer for texturing between 55 and 75 degrees, which removes the guesswork while you are learning; the rest of our milk jugs sit alongside it. For beans, the Breville Bean Keeper holds up to 0.5 kg in an airtight canister.
A note on fitment
Breville prints model codes on a plate on the machine. Find yours before you order anything. BES878 and BES880 look alike on a bench and take different accessories. Every product page here lists the models it suits, and if your code is not on the list, ask us rather than assume.
A Breville bench improves in a predictable order. Start at the group: a Pesado Modular Double Portafilter in 54mm or 58mm gives you a heavier handle and a spout you can actually clean. Add a knock box from our knock boxes range so spent pucks stop going down the sink. Then milk: a 480ml jug pours very differently to a 600ml one. Water filtration is the cheapest insurance a Breville owner buys. If you are still choosing the machine itself, our Breville coffee machines range and the Dual Boiler accessories page are the starting points.
Dom started this business in 1999 because he could not find a part for his Faema E61. That is still the job. Breville is the machine most Australian kitchens start on, and the questions we get are nearly always the same three: what size is my portafilter, which water filter fits, and where do the spent pucks go. This page exists so you can answer those without picking up the phone. Get the fitment right first. Upgrades can wait a week.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you buy parts for a Breville coffee machine? +
Yes. Accessories, consumables and wear items are sold openly, and we stock them: 54mm and 58mm portafilters, the Claro Swiss water filter, knock boxes, milk jugs, descalers and cleaning tablets. Internal components such as pumps and solenoid valves are a different matter, and those go through Breville's own Australian service network.
Which models use a 58mm portafilter? +
Our Breville 58mm bottomless portafilter is listed as compatible with the Oracle Touch (BES990), the Oracle (BES980) and the Dual Boiler (BES920). Others in the range use a 54mm group, which is why Pesado makes its modular double portafilter in both 54mm and 58mm. If you are unsure, measure the basket rather than going by name.
How do I check water filter compatibility? +
The Claro Swiss Water Filter is listed for the Oracle Touch (BES990, batch 1747 and up), the Oracle (BES980, batch 1751 and up), the Barista Pro (BES878), the Barista Touch (BES880), the Dual Boiler (BES920, batch 1801 and up) and the Dynamic Duo (BEP920, batch 1801 and up). Check your existing cartridge or the batch code before ordering, because the batch range matters.
Where do I find my Breville model number? +
Breville prints the code on a plate on the machine, usually underneath or on the rear panel. It reads as a letter and number string such as BES878 or BES990. That code determines which portafilter, water filter and accessories fit, so find it before you order. It also appears in the manual supplied with the machine.
Is it worth fixing an espresso machine at home? +
Usually, if the fault is on the user-serviceable side. Blocked showerheads, scaled water paths, worn baskets and tired portafilters are all fixable with parts and cleaning products. Deeper electrical or boiler problems need Breville's service network or a qualified technician. Descaling on schedule and filtering your water prevents most of the failures we hear about.
What size milk jug suits a home setup? +
The Milk Jug Max and the Milk Jug Thermal are both 480ml, which suits one or two milk drinks at a time. The Thermal version has an integrated thermometer for texturing between 55 and 75 degrees, which helps while you are learning. Larger jugs give more room to fold air in, but leave more milk unused.
Must descalers be brand-specific? +
No. What matters is that it is formulated for espresso machines: non-corrosive, phosphate-free and safe on the water path. Breville's own descaler and eco cleaning tablets do that job, and because they are re-branded Cafetto, the Cafetto range does the same work and is often the better value. Follow the interval in your manual rather than waiting for a fault.
