OUR FAVOURITE POUR OVER DRIPPERS
Pour Over Filter coffee is one of the gentlest ways to brew coffee. Pour over is one of the preferred methods of Manual Brewing, as this brewing process provides the most clarity of flavour.
This brewing method is an extremely simple concept. Traditionally using a Gooseneck Kettle, pour hot water over freshly ground coffee in a filter and allow it to extract organically. You may choose to use a Pour Over Stand which would allow you to brew straight into one of our popular Hario or Kalita Coffee Servers. Pour over is also known as filter coffee or drip coffee.
What separates pour over coffee from other brewing styles is its manual requirements. Hand pouring is one of the components required when brewing pour over. Pour over coffee is known to accentuate intricate flavours when compared to the more common brewing methods like espresso.
Due to pour overs organic brewing method, the hot water can pass through the coffee grounds at it’s own consistent pace and pressure. The filter catches a lot of oils which is why the cup tastes lighter than a typical espresso. This makes for a cleaner, clearer and consistent brew.
There are many brewers online but we only stock what we love and believe are the best pour over drippers on the market. Just to name a few of our favourites, the famous V60 by Hario and the Kalita wave coffee dripper.
You can purchase these pour over drippers in single cup capacity or multiple cups. Most will range from one cup to three cup capacity. Depending on your preference, you can purchase brewers in many different materials depending on what manufacturer you choose. Materials range from plastic, glass, stainless steel, copper and the high quality ceramic coffee drippers.

What is pour over coffee?
The pour over technique is one of the most gentle and simple way to brew coffee. Generally, you pour hot water over freshly ground beans that sit inside a filter. From here the water slowly extracts into the mug or serving glass below and you have yourself a beautiful cup of coffee!
How do I do a pour over coffee?
Recipe
- Brew Ratio: 1:15
- Coffee: 25g grams
- Grind coffee: Medium Coarse
- Water: 375ml at 94 Degrees Celsius
- Brewer: v60
- Filter: v60 Filter Paper
- Filter prep: Rinsed with hot water
Method
- Insert filter and rinse with hot water to remove paper residue and pre-heat vessel.
- Place the Brewer on the Server or Mug.
- Add 25g of medium ground coffee to Brewer and shake to settle.
- Place Server and Brewer on scale and zero.
- Start timer.
- Add 75g of water. Allow to bloom then gently stir to evenly saturate.
- Allow 30 seconds to brew.
- Gradually pour the remaining 300g water in circular motions.
- Ideal total brew time of 2:30-3 min.
- Serve into a pre-warmed cup
- Enjoy your coffee!
Why is Pour-over coffee better?
Pour over is one of our favourite brewing methods, it is known for producing clean, sharp and a bright cup! The water passes through the grounds at its own time and own pressure, by using gravity fed extraction the water is allowed to extract all the delicious oils and fragrances. The filter then catches a lot of oils which removes that bitter taste giving you a delicious well rounded, crisp cup.
What equipment do you need?
Brewing device: The brewing device is simply just the piece of equipment that holds the filter paper and freshly ground coffee. Some of our favourites include the Hario V60 and the Kalita wave pour over drippers. Can be combined with a pour over stand to complete your set up.
Filters: You’ve got a few options here, filter or cloth, bleached or unbleached. Now it really comes down to personal preference when choosing your filters. However some claim unbleached can present quite a papery taste but this can depend on what brand you get your filters from. The majority of people like bleached filters as they don’t usually affect the flavour as much when brewing!
Scales: Coffee scales have become a key part of weighing coffee in the Pour-over coffee making process. The ultimate goal is to brew the perfect coffee in whatever manual-brewing method you choose. Kettles: Pour Over coffee kettles are a key part of drip coffee, filter coffee and immersion coffee brewing. The stainless-steel styles vary in size, weight and feel. However, the main difference between a standard one and one used in pour over filter coffee is the gooseneck spout.
